Alumni Access to Electronic Resources
Alumni Electronic Resources Access Policy
Alumni/alumnae (“alumni”) are welcomed and encouraged to visit the library during normal library hours. In addition, alumni have access to the library’s online catalog, Pegasus, at any time, from any location with Internet access.
There are many electronic resources available for alumni to use when they are at the library; alumni should explore the Electronic Resources listed under E-Resources on the main page of Pegasus. Electronic resources can also be found by searching Pegasus directly. While alumni are off-site (i.e., not in the library), they do not have access to any of the Law Library’s electronic resources. On-site, alumni have access to most of the electronic resources listed under E-Resources, including ProQuest Congressional and HeinOnline, via three computer terminals located in the Reference Office. In addition, alumni may use the Bloomberg terminal located in the Reference Office. Alumni will need to obtain login and password information from the Reference Librarian on duty for many of the electronic resources.
Columbia University Libraries provides access to some electronic resources (including JSTOR and ProQuest) for alumni. Alumni can access these resources with their Columbia UNI.
The library does not provide alumni with access to LexisNexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law or Pacer. Alumni wishing to access LexisNexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law or Pacer in the library must provide their own ID and password. Alumni only have access to the Internet through the three computer terminals in the Reference Office. Alumni may access LexisNexis Academic (through CLIO, the Columbia University online catalog) and Westlaw Campus (through Educat, the Teachers College online catalog) while in any Columbia library. Such access is available at the Law Library via the three computer terminals in the Reference Office. Please note, LexisNexis Academic and Westlaw Campus do not have all of the features of LexisNexis or Westlaw that alumni may be used to as legal professionals.
Alumni using any of the library’s electronic resources are bound by the library’s Electronic Resource Use Policy.
