Troubleshooting Your UNI Creation

On behalf of the Office of Admissions, we are excited to introduce you to our Columbia Law School community and to tell you more about our Virtual Admitted Student Programs, Housing, Financial Aid, and more via our Admitted Student Website.

To access this content, you will first need to create a Columbia University UNI (University ID) account. To do so, complete a few simple steps, outlined below.

  • Note for international admitted students and U.S. students who did not submit a social security number with your application: Creating a UNI will require you to enter a social security number. Please contact the Office of Admissions to receive a unique 9-digit code you may enter when prompted for a social security number.
  • Note for current students and alumni of Columbia University: As a current or former Columbia University student, you should be able to login to the Admitted Student Website using after activating your PIN online via the Create Your UNI page. If you forgot your former UNI account password, please try using the Forgot Password facility on the CUIT site. If you get any error messages with the above, you may need to reinstate your Columbia UNI account: to do so,  contact the CUIT Service Desk at 212-854-1919 for assistance.

In your Offer of Admission letter, you received a 5-digit PIN and confirmation of the email address we have on file for you. You may activate your PIN by visiting "Create your UNI", entering your credentials as indicated, and hitting "submit." See below screenshot.

Upon successful completion of this step, you'll receive your UNI, a unique alphanumeric username like aa1234, on the following screen and via an automated email from [email protected]. If you do not receive this email with your UNI promptly after submitting your info, please check your spam filter and your promotions folder.

Now that you have your UNI, you will need to activate it and create a password.

Following the link that's on the screen and in the automated email after successfully completing the above Step One, you'll arrive at the Columbia University Information Technology Account Activation page. See below screenshot.

Read the terms and conditions, and click "Accept" at the bottom of the screen. See below screenshot.

The following screen further outlines your responsibilities on the Columbia University computer and network use policy. Click "Accept" again, which will bring you to another screen asking you to enter your UNI. See below screenshot.

On the next page, follow the instructions to create a password. You now have the proper credentials to access the Admitted Student Website.

Upon successful completion of the above steps, you now have the proper credentials to access the Admitted Student Website. Navigate to, and click on "Log In for Admitted Students." You will then see the below screen. Enter your UNI and your newly-created password to access the content on the Admitted Student Website.
