Financial Aid

Learn more about financing your law school education.

Transfer students are not eligible for Columbia Law School grant assistance. However, the Financial Aid Office certifies educational loan applications for all Columbia Law School students, so this information may still be useful if you need educational loans to finance your cost of attendance.

Please refer to the Financial Aid website for our policies and procedures as well as instructions on applying for student loans. You will also find up-to-date budget guidelines and links to resources.

Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling. All new students borrowing through the Federal Direct Loan Program must complete online Entrance Counseling for the Federal Direct Loan Programs (Federal Direct Unsubsidized, Graduate PLUS) at the U.S. Department of Education website. Your Direct Loan funds cannot be released without the completion of the online Entrance Counseling.
