The Federalist Society
The Columbia Federalist Society is a group of conservative, libertarian, and moderate students interested in the current state of the legal order.
Organizational Mission: “The Federalist Society . . . is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.”
The CLS Federalist Society is committed to encouraging dialogue and fostering policy understanding at Columbia. We are united in our shared belief that difficult topics should be debated, freely, fairly, openly, and in a thoughtful manner at the law school. The group is open to any student, regardless of beliefs or background.
