Fred Marcusa has served as a negotiator and Strategic Advisor in a variety of separate roles: 1) long-time Partner in a major law firm, 2) close Strategic Advisor to many CEO’s and Boards of Directors, 3) Member of Boards of Director of international companies, 4) General Counsel of a large public (Fortune 500) company and 5) developer and presenter in Paris at the Sorbonne Law School (Paris 1) of a course: “Masterclass in Negotiation of International Mergers and Acquisition and Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances”. Currently Managing Director of Marcusa Global Advisors LLP, offering services primarily to large international companies and their CEO’s, he also advises and invests in Fintech and other technology startups He was for many years a Partner of Kaye Scholer LLP (now Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP) and Member of its Executive Committee, advising global companies and their managements, and negotiating on their behalf, numerous 1) M&A and other transactions and 2) corporate relationships, such as joint ventures and strategic alliances. He has also had extensive involvement in complex and sensitive international negotiations and investigations. A close Strategic Advisor to and negotiator for many French entities, including the Government of France and major French State-owned and public and private entities, he was named a "Chevalier" (Knight) of the French Legion of Honor, by decree of the President of France, for his "accomplishments in fostering the economic relationship between France and the United States." Mr. Marcusa has served as a Director of and Strategic Advisor to major companies in the US, Latin America, and Europe. He has advised non-US governments and international non-governmental organizations. He has particular experience in the chemical, electronics, defense and aerospace, and traditional and new-media industries through transactions in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has developed a number of innovative techniques for dealing with highly-complex commercial, political and legal issues. He is well-recognized for his writing and advice to senior executives and others on strategic alliances, international commercial transactions, leveraged buyouts and employment agreements. At the request of various governmental and corporate institutions, he has written and spoken about a number of topics in corporate and international law and business in the US, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. He speaks regularly on panels in the US and abroad organized by governmental and educational institutions on various financial and Fintech (including blockchain remittance) topics. He is a concert flutist, who has played a number of solo recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall and elsewhere in and outside the US. He is also well known among flutists and flute makers as an advisor to them. Mr. Marcusa’s experience in music masterclasses in Europe inspired his development of the “Masterclass in Negotiation”, which he teaches in Paris at the Sorbonne Law school (Paris 1) and which is the genesis of his course offering, with Nancy Lieberman, at Columbia Law School on “Negotiation of M&A, Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances”. He holds an AB from Dartmouth College and JD from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was an Editor of the Law Review.
