Lecturer in Law

David Stern is a staff attorney in the immigration law unit of The Legal Aid Society of New York City, where he represents individuals in removal proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and, on occasion, before the federal courts. He joined The Legal Aid Society in 1992.

He has taught English As a Second Language (ESL) classes and college skills to adult immigrants and first-generation college students. He is a former member of the immigration and nationality committee of the New York City Bar Association.

Stern graduated from Columbia Law School, where co-founded the Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. He is also a graduate of New College at the University of Oxford, and Teachers College at Columbia University.
