The Tenants' Rights Project will be conducting its fall information session on Monday, September 16th from 12:10-1:10 pm in Big Warren (WJW) 103. Attorneys from a number of organizations, including Manhattan Legal Services, NMIC Legal Services, and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, will be speaking about their work and how students can become involved, and we will also be presenting information about volunteering opportunities with Goddard Riverside Law Project and Legal-Aid.
This is a great opportunity for 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs to perform pro bono work. Prior participants have cited the level of responsibility, the experience of serving the community, and the scheduling flexibility as important reasons for why they loved working at these organizations. For 1Ls especially, this is a great opportunity to do meaningful legal work for the first time and gain interesting and relevant legal experience to talk about in interviews. For others, this is a great opportunity to fulfill BOTH your Columbia and New York State pro bono requirements!
If you’re interested in getting involved but cannot attend, please contact us at [email protected].
Lunch will be served at the information session. Keep an eye out for the application. We’ll be sending it around shortly after the information session. We look forward to seeing you there!
