Please join the American Constitution Society (ACS), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and CLS Democrats for an exciting event discussing voting rights ahead of the 2020 election! Tropical Sensations will be served.

We are thrilled to welcome a panel of experts in this field, including practitioners from the Brennan Center and ACLU, both organizations involved in drafting the House Democrats’ H. R. 1 bill. Our discussion will address the state of voting rights after the 2018 Midterm Elections and how voting rights may change by the 2020 elections, with a focus on the potential impact of House Democrats' historic For the People Act.

Professor Richard Briffault will moderate. Professor Briffault is the Joseph P. Chamberlain Professor of Legislation at Columbia Law School. His scholarship focuses on state and local government law, legislation, the law of the political process, government ethics, and property.

Professor Jamal Greene is the Dwight Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. His scholarship focuses on the structure of legal and constitutional argument, and he is an expert on constitutional law and theory.

Sean Morales-Doyle is currently Counsel in the Brennan Center for Justice’s Democracy Program. His work is focused on voting rights and elections, and he is a seasoned litigator with experience in issues of civil rights, constitutional law, and labor/employment law.

Julie Ebenstein is currently Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project. She has litigated voting rights matters around the country, including cases challenging voter suppression laws and racial discrimination.
