Dear members of the Columbia Law School community,
As a reminder, Law IT will be upgrading IT Infrastructure in Jerome Greene Hall (JGH) and William and June Warren Hall (WJW) over the Winter Break. These upgrades will take the Law School’s network offline for certain periods only for those who will be on the premises.
While users may continue to access all digital systems remotely or elsewhere on campus, we ask that you take note of the dates below and plan accordingly if you plan to be on campus.
BUILDING-WIDE OUTAGES: Thursday, December 26, 2019 - 6 a.m to 10 a.m.
On Thursday, December 26, from 6 a.m to 10 a.m., there will be no access to Law School IT systems—including desktop computers and network printers, computer terminals, Library services, and wireless internet—from on-premises connections in Law School campus buildings: Jerome Greene Hall, William, and June Warren Hall, William C. Warren Hall, Jerome Greene Annex, and the Greenhouse.
Digital systems, including LawNet, network drives, and Lionmail, will remain accessible remotely or from elsewhere on campus. Faculty entering grades into LawNet should do so from a remote location during the affected times. To access the Law School network, including H: and G: drives, remotely, please do so by using the University’s VPN (the Law School VPN will not be accessible during the outage period).
We encourage faculty to work remotely during times when localized outages are scheduled. Officers on the affected floors should consult with their supervisor to discuss possible remote work arrangements. Support staff are not permitted to work remotely and should seek guidance from their supervisor as to whether alternate on-campus work arrangements may be available.
Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation.
