Kernochan Lunch Talk: Communications Decency Act Section 230

Feb 2021

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act protects any "interactive computer service" from liability for the content that users post on their platforms. The services argue that requiring them to monitor postings would limit users’ freedom of speech. Others contend that §230 encourages the distribution of hate speech, violent videos, and revenge porn.

Speakers: Cathy Gellis, Esq., in private practice, and Mary Anne Franks, University of Miami School of Law
