Impact of the GDPR Two Years On: Influence on Other Nations

Sep 2020
The European Legal Studies Center welcomes Kurt Wimmer of Covington & Burling LLP, for a lunchtime discussion. The GDPR came into force in May 2018, and has had a wide impact within the EEA and the world. Enforcement actions taking under the GDPR have been more moderate than some expected. But its impact in pressing other countries to adopt a similar law cannot be denied. The talk will focus on India and other countries that are moving ahead with GDPR-like laws, and will focus on the significant differences that legislators in other countries are adding to the GDPR's terms.
