This full-semester offering provides a valuable hands-on complement to the Law School’s more conventional courses in public law. The Externship enables students to integrate their public law education in an applied setting. The Externship is open to third-year JD candidates in the fall semester and second- and third-year JD candidates in the spring. Externs apply to participating federal government law offices on a guided basis following admission to the Externship. Admission is by application only. Up to fifteen students will be selected. Rachel Pauley, Director of Government Programs and Lecturer in Law, will oversee placements, including the application process and term-time counseling.
Applications for the Fall 2018 semester are due by 4pm on February 26, 2018. Interested students should contact Rachel Pauley and also attend the lunchtime DC Externship Information Session on Tuesday, February 6.
