The CLS Pro Bono Scholars Program (PBSP) is part of New York State's experiential law program that enables students during their last semester of law school to participate in a full time experiential semester for 12 credits. Participants begin the program by studying for and taking the NY Bar Examination in February; work full time in a public interest practice placement following the bar exam until late May; engage with the other CLS students in the program in an innovative experiential seminar; and with bar passage, be admitted to the Bar in the summer following graduation. Application information and deadlines can be found here. Rising 3Ls apply during the 2019 summer to ensure that they have completed other CLS requirements prior to enrolling in the PBSP in Spring 2020. The PBSP will be taught and supervised by Professor Jane Spinak.
Questions about applications, requirements, and externship placements should be directed to Professor Spinak ([email protected]). Susan Kraham, the Director of Externships and Field-based Learning, is also available for consultations and questions ([email protected]).
