Columbia Arbitration Day (CAD) is one of the premier international arbitration conferences in the country, bringing together thinkers, scholars, practitioners, and students from all over the world for an annual discussion on the challenges that drive the international arbitration community. CAD gives students a special opportunity to learn from the leading figures in the field of international arbitration. It provides students with an essential complement to their study of arbitration: the knowledge and experience of practitioners. Their perspective is something we are proud to share with the Columbia Law School community, as well as the law students from around the country. We are confident that with each successive CAD, the next generation of arbitration lawyers will become better-informed, and better-connected.
Past years have attracted renowned speakers such as William H. Park (Boston University), Emmanuel Gaillard (Shearman & Sterling, LLP), Gaëtan Verhoosel (Three Crowns, LLP), Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler (Levy-Kaufmann-Kohler), Nigel Blackaby (Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, LLP), Mark Beckett (Chadbourne & Parke LLP), Jalal El Ahdad (Ginestié Magellan Paley-Vincent), Franco Ferrari (New York University), Claudia Annacker (Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, LLP), R. Doak Bishop (King & Spalding, LLP), Siegfried H. Elsing (Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP), O. Thomas Johnson (Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal), Carolyn B. Lamm (White & Case, LLP), Robert Smit (Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP) or David W. Rivkin (Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP). CAD 2019 will be an all-day conference focusing on cutting-edge issues in both commercial and investment arbitration and we will attract a similar caliber of speakers.
