Join the Columbia International Arbitration Association for a lunch session on the potential as well as the current role of blockchains in dispute resolution. Discussions will illustrate how blockchains naturally fit in with crowd-sourced models of online dispute resolution, drawing parallels and making contrasts with crowd-sourced ODR models used in e-commerce platforms such as eBay and Taobao.
Dr. William George is a mathematician and a researcher for Kleros, a blockchain-based dispute resolution system. His research is centered on using ideas from blockchains and game theory to inform design choices. William has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Toronto and prior to joining Kleros, he conducted academic research on applications of blockchains, particularly on their use in identity management systems, during postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Toronto and at École Polytechnique.
