Learning Outcome Goals

Primary Goals

  • • Apply legal doctrine and practice lawyering skills, including client and stakeholder interviewing, fact finding and analysis, legal research and document drafting, strategy formulation and decision-making and the pursuit of legal and non-legal remedies.
  • • Gain experience advocating in the best interest of a client population.
  • • Recognize the importance of interprofessional collaboration in order to meet the needs of clients and address population health concerns. Identify both traditional and “preventative” lawyering approaches and the use of legal and non-legal remedies to address client needs.
  • At the end of the course, students will have acquired understanding of and/or facility in various lawyering skills, for example, oral advocacy, legal writing and drafting, legal research, negotiation, and client communication
