Primary Goals

  • The law enforcement authority of the New York Attorney General, including enforcement of state, local, and federal laws and regulations.
  • The scope of the investigatory authority of the New York Attorney General, including the power to investigate potential violations of the law and issue investigatory subpoenas to compel document production and testimony
  • The application of legal authorities (including statutes, regulations, and case law) to legal issues and problem within the jurisdiction of the New York Attorney General, including issues and problems involving health care, charities, labor, civil rights, and environmental protection.
  • The investigation of, and litigation regarding, the legal issues and problems within the jurisdiction of the New York Attorney General, including an introduction to analyzing new legal issues and problems, planning an investigation, conducting subpoena hearings, drafting complaints, presenting oral argument, and preparing experts to testify.
  • The preemption of state law enforcement authority by the Supremacy Clause.
