Celebrating and Honoring Public Interest

One of Columbia Law School’s most important traditions is the annual dinner honoring those in our community who have made outstanding contributions to the public interest during the preceding year.

From our pro bono service requirement to our Columbia Summer Funding program to LRAP, we are committed to ensuring that serving the public interest is ingrained in the professional life of every one of our students and graduates. Selection as a Public Interest Honoree recognizes the students that have embraced these values to the fullest, and SJI celebrates all that these students have done to serve others in their lives and in their work.

It is with esteem and appreciation that we recognize the achievements of the 2021 Public Interest and Public Service Honorees.

Past Honors Dinners

In spring 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world as we know it. As the Law School rushed to move the curriculum online and students made decisions about where to spend the remainder of the semester, we were sadly unable to hold the annual Honors Dinner in person. Nevertheless, we celebrated our students for their unfailing commitment to public interest, particularly in light of unprecedented global challenges.
