All currently enrolled J.D. students who are members of the Class of 2025 (rising 2Ls) and who are considering applying to clerkships in June 2024 are encouraged to apply to join the CDI beginning on July 7, 2023. Please note that the program for the Class of 2025 will run during the entire 2023-2024 academic year, with biweekly meetings and occasional Friday courthouse outings. A completed application consists of:
- A current legal resume;
- A list of extra-curricular and leadership activities that you have pursued while at CLS;
- A personal statement setting forth your interest in clerkships, judicial service, how a clerkship fits into your professional aspirations, and why you would like to be a part of CDI (2 to 3 pages);
- A legal writing sample (up to 15 pages); and
- The names of up to 3 potential faculty members who could serve as potential mentors (while OJC will make every attempt to match you with one of the faculty mentors you have selected, this may not be possible in all circumstances).
Students may be invited to interview virtually following the submission of their written application materials.
CDI Scholars will be notified of their acceptance to the program in August of 2023.
