Section Description

The seminar will take place at the President’s House (60 Morningside Drive) This course on advanced issues in the First Amendment will focus on modern topics of the First Amendment, including the Pentagon Papers, regulation of social media platforms, hate speech and extremist speech, and global freedom of expression. Each student will work in a small group to research and present a proposition regarding one of these topics, to be challenged and discussed among the class as a whole. In lieu of a final exam, students will prepare a paper on the topic their group selected, informed by their presentation, ensuing discussion, additional research, and foundational texts. IMPORTANT NOTE: The waitlist for this seminar has been frozen.
