Section Description

This course provides an introduction to United States Constitutional Law for students who are trained in other legal traditions. The course covers the constitutional structure of US government: the powers of the federal government; the roles of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches; and the relation between the federal and state governments. We examine the constitutional status of individual rights and the principle of equality. Throughout, we will explore the values that animate these fields, the competing methods of constitutional interpretation, and the relationship between constitutionalism and democracy. LLMs only.
