As a premier research institution, Columbia Law offers extensive resources, counseling, programs and support for students and alumni interested in exploring careers in legal academia. Columbia Law graduates hold positions at top schools across the globe.
Columbia Law faculty members foster student scholarship inside the classroom and out, serving as mentors, using students as research assistants and providing workshops and forums to showcase their scholarship.
Additionally, the Law School's Careers in Law Teaching Program offers a wide variety of tools and career services for students and alumni seeking positions as law professors. The Law School's Academic Fellows Program offers post-graduate fellowships for promising scholars launching their careers. Academic Fellows can spend up to three years in residence on campus, where they can pursue their research interests and participate in the Law School's intellectual community.
Note: Columbia Law School is unifying its academic-track post-graduate fellowships in the Academic Fellows Program. We are no longer accepting applications for the Associates in Law Program. If you have already applied to the 2020-2021 Associates in Law Program, your application is being considered for an Academic Fellow position.
