The Externship on the Federal Government in Washington, DC
This full-semester offering provides a valuable hands-on complement to the Law School’s more conventional teaching offerings in public law, affording an opportunity to integrate aspects of students’ public law education in an applied setting. The Externship is open to third-year JD candidates in the fall semester and second- and third-year JD candidates in the spring. Admission is by application only. Up to fifteen students will be selected. Rachel Pauley, Director of Government Programs, will oversee externship placements, including the application process and term-time counseling.
An information session for the Fall 2017 term will be held on February 7 from 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 105. Attendance is very highly encouraged for interested applicants.
Externs apply to participating federal government law offices on a guided basis following admission to the externship program.
Note: Applications for Fall 2017 are still being accepted on a case-by-case, rolling basis.
For more information about the program, please contact Rachel Pauley, Director of Government Programs.
