About the Evolutionary Learning Institute
Nationwide, the many actors and organizations working to transform public education and the lives and learning of children know that they must constantly learn and improve. The Evolutionary Learning Institute equips individuals and teams from state education departments, school districts, charter management organizations, philanthropies, and other education non-profits seeking transformative change in K-16 education with the improvement framework and tools they need to succeed.
CPRL's Evolutionary Learning Institute prepares organizations and teams to:
Develop operational theories of action;
Obtain early and actionable signals as to the success of the organization’s strategies;
Create tools to gather diagnostic data quickly and inexpensively;
Use structured protocols for effective problem-solving;
Align organizations around constant and rapid institutional learning; and
Engage stakeholders in improvement and change.
Participants, in teams of 2-4 people, are exposed to rapid and constant institutional improvement strategies and tools through in-person workshops, as well as individualized coaching from CPRL staff and students throughout. Institute will guide participants through a structured problem-solving process focused on a specific ongoing challenge each participating team brings with it to the Institute. Participating organizations will also receive the tools and processes needed to address future challenges and comprehensively orient their work around constant and rapid improvement.
Through its cohort model, Institute gives organizations working to expand and equalize access to high-quality education an opportunity to engage in cross-organizational learning before, during, and after the formal sessions. The table below outlines the activities each cohort will engage in over the course of a typical cycle.
