United States Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub's Speech on Trump's Ongoing Conflicts of Interest
On Wednesday, U.S. Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub spoke at the Brookings Institution in response to President-Elect Trump's proposed plans to separate himself from his business. Shaub criticized Trump's attempts to resolve his conflicts of interest are inadequate, adding that divesture is not too high a price to pay to be president of the United States of America. CAPI Advisory Board member and ethics expert Professor Richard Briffault called Shaub's words "a powerful statement on the value of conflicts of interest regulation."
His remarks are worth watching in their entirety. You can read the text of Director Shaub's speech here.
