FELLOWSHIPS OVERVIEW
Columbia public interest students do very well when it comes to receiving highly selective fellowships. They usually are among the few who are selected for positions in the Department of Justice Honors Program, prestigious clerkships, and other highly competitive public interest jobs throughout the United States and the world.
In addition, successful Columbia graduates and faculty and their firms, families, and friends have demonstrated that public interest law is at the core of the Law School’s values by creating fellowships that allow other Columbia graduates to pursue public interest careers. Fellowships allow graduates and current students to do public interest work in the United States or abroad.
For detailed fellowship listings, please visit out Postgraduate Fellowships and Summer Fellowships pages.

TO BECOME A SPONSOR FOR A PUBLIC INTEREST FELLOW
Non-profit and other public interest employers are invited to contact the SJI office with notices seeking Columbia Law students (rising 3Ls and current clerks) to apply for sponsorship by that office or organization for a project-based fellowship, including Skadden and Equal Justice Works fellowships, as well as Kirkland & Ellis Public Service Fellowships for those employers in NYC.
Public interest employers should be sure their office and project ideas fit within the parameters of the various fellowships and should contact SJI by late June as applications are very detailed and take a while for applicants and employers to collaborate to develop well. Please email socialjustice@law.columbia.edu for more information.
POSTGRADUATE FELLOWSHIP HONOR ROLL
Columbia Law students and graduates have built a very strong tradition of receiving highly selective and competitive postgraduate public interest fellowships. They have used these opportunities to promote justice and to work on legal and social issues at a variety of public interest organizations around the country. To locate these Fellows or for information about their projects, contact Social Justice Initiatives.
