September 6, 2007 – Columbia Law School Professor John Coffee has been named one of the 100 most influential people in corporate governance by Directorship Magazine.

In its September cover story, Directorship profiles the 100 people its editors say are having the most impact on ``shaping agendas in boardrooms across America.’’

The list of 100 was compiled based in input from a reader poll and a panel of 12 corporate governance experts.

Coffee is Columbia Law School’s Adolf A. Berle Professor of Law. The Directorship profile notes that ``after a brief career as a lawyer, Coffee joined Columbia Law School in 1980 and cultivated a reputation as one of the preeminent thinkers on corporate law and corporate governance. The National Law Journal listed him one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in the U.S.’’

The Directorship list is topped by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, known as CalPERS. The list also includes U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, as well as investor Warren Buffett.
