Oct. 23, 2007 (NEW YORK) “The Historic Photos of Franklin Delano Roosevelt” contains images from his childhood in the 1880s to those of his funeral cortege and the christening of USS Franklin Roosevelt two weeks after his funeral. In this photo, he poses with his new wife, Eleanor, in 1906, when he was studying law at Columbia. They were married the previous year in March– the bride was given away by President Teddy Roosevelt, who reportedly stole the show – but the couple postponed their honeymoon until June, so FDR could finish his term at school.

The book’s editor, Matthew Gilmore, is a former reference librarian and collection development librarian at the Washingtonia Division of the District of Columbia Public Library. The majority of the images come from the FDR Library in New Hyde Park, N.Y., many never before published.
