REPORT PROVIDES FIRST-EVER RANKING OF RUSSIA'S MULTINATIONALS
Moscow and New York, December 7, 2007
For the first time, new data and rankings will quantify the impressive recent growth of Russia’s Top 25 multinational companies in foreign markets. The rankings, which will be released Dec. 11, 2007, are based on the companies’ foreign assets, and are the result of collaborative research and analysis by SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management and the Columbia Program on International Investment (Columbia Law School-Earth Institute) in New York.
The results will reveal key information on Russia's Top 25 multinationals, including their assets, sales and employment abroad, the dynamics and the locations of their global activities, and their place among the leading multinationals from other emerging markets.
Russian companies have grown quickly in foreign markets over the past few years and reinforced their position in the global arena, drawing attention to their expansion. However, until this ranking by SKOKOVO and the Columbia Program on International Investment, there had been little hard data available to measure the phenomenon and put it into context.
The new ranking was produced in the framework of the international Emerging Market Global Players project.
The press release with the rankings and analysis will be distributed by e-mail on Monday, Dec. 10, under an embargo that will lift at 04:00 am, December 11, 2007, Moscow time (08:00 pm, Dec. 10, New York; 01:00 am, Dec. 11, London; 09:00 am, Dec. 11, Shanghai).
