DePaul Law Prof. Susan Bandes Examines Emotion and the Death Penalty
On Tuesday, March 22, Professor Susan Bandes of DePaul Law School will be giving the Spring lecture in the Barbara Black Lecture Series on Women and Law.
The title of the lecture is "Repellent Crimes and Rational Deliberation: Emotion and the Death Penalty."
Prof. Bandes' scholarship focuses largely on the issue of governmental accountability and on the role of emotion in law. Her book on the role of emotion in law, entitled The Passions of Law, was published by the NYU Press in January 2000. Her recent pro bono activities include acting as co-reporter for the Constitution Project's bipartisan Death Penalty Initiative, which produced the report "Mandatory Justice: Eighteen Reforms to the Death Penalty," available at http://www.constitutionproject.org and serving on the advisory board to the Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice's study of the criminal justice system in Cook County.
