  CLS Gatekeepers and Corporate Governance Conference in Tokyo   
The Center for Japanese Legal Studies at Columbia Law will host a conference in Tokyo on August 2, 2005.

Edith I. Spivack '32 has retired after 70 years with the New York City Law Department, where she was hired in 1934 as assistant corporation counsel under New York Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia.

Preet Bharara '93 was named chief counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee, working on judicial selection for U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
