Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Michael B. Oren, recently spoke to a packed audience at the Law School about the relationship between Israel and the U.S. During his talk, which was hosted by the Law School’s Center for Israeli Legal Studies, Oren described the two countries as sharing spiritual ties, a strategic alliance, and a commercial connection. Barak, who served on the Israeli Supreme Court for 28 years, maintained that applying proportionality to law is key in defending human rights while also advancing important state interests.
