Former U.S. Attorney General Opens Friedmann Conference

Winter 2012

Michael B. Mukasey, former U.S. Attorney General and federal court judge for the Southern District of New York, kicked off the 38th annual Wolfgang Friedmann Conference in International Law at Columbia Law School with a discussion of the sometimes tumultuous relationship between the United States and the International Criminal Court. The Columbia Society of International Law hosted the event, titled “Courts, Judges, and Justice in the International Legal System,” which also included a panel discussion on the rule of the independent judiciary in nations that have recently transitioned to democratic systems of government.
