Center for Constitutional Governance Holds First Conference

Fall 2013

Columbia Law School’s Center for Constitutional Governance hosted its first major conference this past spring. Scholars, government officials, and other experts attending the daylong symposium explored key issues facing the Obama administration in the president’s second term. Panels highlighted President Barack Obama’s fiscal and budgetary challenges; his domestic policy; national security and foreign policy issues; and election law and voting rights. Featured panelists included current FBI Director James B. Comey, Cabinet Secretary Danielle Gray, and New York Times columnist Eduardo Porter, among many others. Professor Gillian E. Metzger ’95, the center’s faculty director, moderated the discussion focused on the administration’s domestic programs and policies.
