Columbia Law School Professor Philip Genty has been named “Professor Honoris Causa” by a university in Skopje, Macedonia, for his work developing clinical education in that area. The school, the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, has been working with Genty since 2000 to launch and grow its clinical program. “I’ve worked with a wonderful group of dedicated professors who are also gracious hosts,” said Genty, who directs the Prisoners and Families Clinic at Columbia Law School. “The students are just amazing and very excited about new educational opportunities.”
Columbia Law School clinical professors have worked to improve legal education in the former Soviet Union, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Albania, and Bulgaria.
