American Friends of the Hebrew University recently honored Gary P. Naftalis ’67 and Mary Jo White ’74 with the George A. Katz Torch of Learning Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership, scholarship, and dedication to society.

Naftalis, the co-chair of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, has served on the Legal Aid Society’s board of directors and was awarded the Benemerenti Medal by Pope Benedict XVI.

White, chair of the litigation department at Debevoise & Plimpton, previously served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where she received the George W. Bush Award for Excellence in Counterterrorism, among other distinctions.
