Lynch Nominated for 2nd Circuit Position

Summer 2009

Gerard E. Lynch ’75, the Paul J. Kellner Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, has been nominated for a judicial position with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. Lynch, who will maintain his position on the faculty, has been a federal district judge for the Southern District of New York since 2000.

“Professor Lynch is a gifted and popular teacher whose wisdom and commitment to service inspires colleagues and students alike,” said David M. Schizer, Dean and the Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law. If confirmed, Schizer added, Lynch will join Professor Debra Livingston on the 2nd Circuit bench and add to the ranks of Law School alumni who have served on that court over the years.
