The U.S. Senate recently confirmed two Columbia Law School alumni to serve as U.S. Attorneys: Preet Bharara ’93 for the Southern District of New York, and Tristram J. Coffin ’89 for the District of Vermont.

Bharara left his position as New York Senator Charles Schumer’s chief counsel to take on his new role. Prior to his work with Senator Schumer, he helped lead the Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into the Justice Department’s firing of eight U.S. Attorneys in 2006.

Coffin joins the Vermont U.S. Attorney’s Office from the Burlington, Vt., office
of Paul Frank + Collins. He previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for
the state.
