Closed Stacks and Offsite Storage
Some library items are rare and valuable, in poor condition, or seldom used. Due to the limited, fixed nature of our physical space, the library does not keep them in the open stacks, but makes them available by request.
For items shelved onsite in closed stack locations such as Treasure, Cellar Storage, Storage 5, and SIPA1, requests can be made at the Reference Desk.
Items shelved in Cellar Storage or Storage 5 are retrieved at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Items shelved in Treasure and SIPA1 are retrieved by either the Special Collections Librarian or the Curator for the Japanese Law Collection, depending on the item requested.
Depending on the type or condition of the material, use of these items may be limited to the Handler Rare Books Room.
Items shelved in Offsite Storage can be requested by following the request link in Pegasus and submitting the request form. Items requested from offsite before 3:30 p.m. should arrive the following business day. Items requested over the weekend should arrive on Tuesday.
You will receive an email when your item is available at the Third Floor Circulation Desk.
