Wireless Network

The Information Technology Department offers wireless Ethernet network services to Columbia Law School students, faculty, and staff. The wireless network offers fast and reliable data connection speeds of up to 11mbps or 54mbps.

Coverage is currently limited to some indoor common areas and various classrooms and lounge areas. Coverage will improve as the wireless network is expanded to accommodate the school's needs. The wireless network offers all the computing services that the wired network does. To benefit from our wireless services you will need:

  • A portable computer equipped with an 802.11b/g/n compatible wireless network card
  • To configure your computer to access the CLS network
  • To register your wireless card on Lawnet (the network card must be installed and configured to complete this step)

Once you complete the steps above, the CLS network will be completely accessible without the restraints of a network cable and jack. Wireless users can roam throughout the coverage areas and remain connected to the network. CLS-IT distributes a selection of connection guides to help you connect to both the CLS and CUNIX networks.
