Configuration Information for Handhelds

If you would like to push email, contacts and calendar information to your Android, Apple iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, Nokia Series 60 or Windows Mobile device, you can use the mobile configuration tool located at http://traveler.law.columbia.edu.

Point your browser from the mobile device of your choice to http://traveler.law.columbia.edu and enter your email login credentials, which is your full name. This is the same username and password combination you may have used to access remote email located at http://email.law.columbia.edu. Once you point your mobile device (i.e iPhone or Android) to the http://traveler.law.columbia.edu configuration tool, the mobile device will download the appropriate installer.

Password Protect Your Mobile Device

With the ever increasing number of mobile devices in use at Columbia, we'd like to remind you of Columbia's policy to password protect all devices that retrieve or contain Columbia University information. http://www.columbia.edu/cuit/newsletter/staff/smartphones-081006.html.

To reduce the risk of unauthorized access to the data on your device, please remember to:

  • Set the device to auto-lock or security timeout after approximately 20 minutes of inactivity
  • Create a password to unlock the device
  • Immediately call the CLS-IT Helpdesk at 212-854-1370 to suspend service on a lost or stolen mobile device.

 
If you would like additional help, please call the CLS-IT Helpdesk at 212-854-1370  and a Helpdesk Service Technician will be happy to assist you with this process.

Lost or Stolen Mobile Device & Handheld

Please report a lost or stolen Mobile Device & Handheld to the Helpdesk, prior to disconnecting cell phone service. If your device is connected to one our Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), or another service ; we may be able to issue a password on the device or wipe the device clean.
