Classroom Technology

The Information Technology department provides multimedia support for law school classes, conferences and student group events in law school spaces. The Multimedia Group operates as part of the Information Technology department to provide training in, maintenance of, and support of the technology at your disposal throughout the Law School’s 26 classrooms.

In addition, The Multimedia Group is also tasked with assisting you in the recording of class lectures and events and the production of media (capturing, editing and encoding) for the web. We serve as partners to the law school’s various centers, programs and departments in the planning and implementation of technology in our spaces. Our staff is always available for consultation should you have any need for technology-based solutions in the course of teaching or in planning your events.

Virtually all classrooms and meeting spaces have presentation technology installed. Also, almost every classroom has been equipped with audio capture hardware for classroom recording. Please see the Classroom Recording section for more information about this.

Classroom Technology Overview

Classroom spaces are generally divided into 4 types based on factors such as seating arrangement, overall size and intended use: lecture halls, seminar rooms, conference/break-out rooms and multi-purpose spaces. The built-in multimedia capabilities of each room vary largely by type.
All of our classrooms are equipped with, at least, the following basic tools:

  • Internet-connected desktop computer (with access to your G and H drives via your CLS login)
  • Connectivity for your laptop or other portable device
  • At least one projector and screen or a wall-mounted LCD/Plasma display (in smaller spaces) for the computer
  • Automated audio-recording capabilities (by request)
  • Audio amplification of the computer (speakers of some type)
  • DVD Playback
