Annual Trade Law Seminar
From 1996 to 2011, the Center for Korean Legal Studies hosted the Annual Summer Trade Law Seminar for trainees of the Korean Judicial Research and Training Institute (JRTI).
JRTI is a government-run training program that prepares those who have passed the Korean bar for their professional work through a two-year, government-mandated training program in legal research and writing, clinical experience, and internships.
The two-week program at Columbia University included lectures from top United States lawyers and experts, as well as training and observation visits to related U.S. agencies in Washington, D.C. Participants undertook an intense course of study with lecture topics ranging from intellectual property law, corporate and securities law, and laws impacting trade and global climate change.
With the phasing out of JRTI due to recent major reforms in the Korean legal education system, the Annual Seminar at Columbia has been discontinued.
