Application Process and Timeline
Applications for admission to the Columbia Four-Year J.D./M.B.A. Program must be filed separately at each school. Each school’s admissions decisions are based solely on that school’s selection criteria and, accordingly, are determined independently.
Candidates are welcome to indicate their interest in pursuing the four-year J.D./M.B.A. in their initial application to the Law School, but are not required to do so. Candidates are eligible to apply for the four-year J.D./M.B.A. program during either their 1L or 2L year at the Law School or during their first year at the Business School. Candidates may also apply to both the Law School and the Business School simultaneously, but please note that this would require the student to spend the first year of the program at the Business School and to defer matriculation to the Law School for one year, since the Business School does not allow deferred matriculation.
The Law School renders decisions on a rolling basis, but generally after February 15 and no later than April 30 of each admissions cycle. The Business School generally renders decisions within six to eight weeks following the completion of an application. Kindly note that the Business and Law Schools do not utilize any “joint” process of evaluating applications or rendering decisions to applicants for the four-year J.D./M.B.A. program.
