Matthew Knecht

Matt Knecht joined the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem in 2002. At NDS, Matt has served as a Staff Attorney, a Supervising Attorney, and is now the Managing Attorney of NDS’ Criminal Defense Practice. In these roles, Matt has represented thousands of clients in Manhattan’s trial courts. He has trained attorneys at numerous continuing legal education seminars, on subjects such as managing client relationships, pre-trial suppression hearing practice, felony sentencing in New York, and many other topics, and he is a frequent speaker at New York City law schools. Matt graduated from Albright College in 1996, and received his JD from Brooklyn Law School in 1999, where he was a Richardson Merit Scholar.
