Received his PhD from the London School of Economics in 1986 and holds a BA in economics from the University of Cambridge and a BA in political science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. Cassel Professor of Money and Banking at the London School of Economics from 1991-1994.
John H. Scully '66 Professor of Finance and Economics at Princeton University from 1998-2005.
Joined Columbia Business School, Economics department and Law School in July 2005, and is currently the Barbara and David Zalaznick Professor of Business.
Main research areas of interest are in contract theory and contracting issues in corporate finance and industrial organization
Recently published a graduate textbook, Contract Theory, with Mathias Dewatripont and has co-edited a book with Howard Rosenthal, Credit Markets for the Poor.
He is a managing editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association.
Currently teaches Advanced Corporate Finance and Contract Theory.
