With more than 30 years of experience in the field, Mr Ruthizer is recognized as one of the country's leading immigration lawyers. He is the partner in charge of Kramer Levin's Business Immigration Group, as well as a past president and general counsel of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Mr Ruthizer is a lecturer in law at Columbia Law School, where he teaches an advanced seminar in immigration law and policy. He was a guest lecturer in business immigration law at Harvard Law School (Fall 2008). Mr Ruthizer has authored or co-authored many publications in the field.
Mr Ruthizer was selected as Best Lawyers New York Immigration Lawyer of the Year for 2010 and as one of the Top 10 Immigration Lawyers in the U.S. by Human Resource Executive and Lawdragon in 2009. He was chosen by Chambers USA as one of the top 12 ranked business immigration lawyers in the U.S. and by New York Super Lawyers as one of the top 100 lawyers practising in New York (and the only immigration lawyer to be included). Mr Ruthizer is listed in Chambers Global, The Best Lawyers in America and The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers.
Mr Ruthizer is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (past president and general counsel), the New York State Bar Association (past chair, Immigration Law Committee), the New York City Bar Association, the International Law Association and the American Foreign Law Association. He has been elected as a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation. He was the recipient of the Legal Aid Society's 2003 Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service and Legal Services NYC’s 2008 Pro Bono Award.
