Robert A. Rubin is Special Counsel to McCarter & English, LLP in its New York City office.  He is widely regarded for his experience in complex construction litigation.  Mr. Rubin has extensive experience in the use of mediation, arbitration, dispute review boards and other alternative dispute resolution techniques to resolve construction disputes.   In addition, Mr. Rubin has worked extensively in drafting and negotiating design and construction contracts and resolving problems short of litigation.

Mr. Rubin is recognized as one of the leading construction attorneys in the United States and internationally in Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers and the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers. He is listed among the 100 Best Lawyers in the New York area in New York Magazine.  He was the recipient of the 2007 Cornerstone Award of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry.

Mr. Rubin is Adjunct Professor, Columbia University, faculties of law and civil engineering, where he teaches an interdisciplinary seminar "Construction Industry Law".  He has lectured for the American Bar Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Arbitration Association, Practicing Law Institute and other societies and universities on construction contract documents, construction claims, surety law, professional liability, alternative dispute resolution, and governmental contract law.

Mr. Rubin is a member of the New York State Bar and is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York.  He is a member of the Construction Industry Arbitration and Mediation Panels of the American Arbitration and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, and is a member of the Construction Panel, CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals, CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution.  He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers; a Past President of the American College of Construction Lawyers; a Past President of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation; a Fellow of the Commercial College of Arbitrators; a Certified Mediator, International Mediation Institute; a member of the National Academy of Constructors; a Director of the ACE Mentor Program; and is a member of The Moles.
Mr. Rubin received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University.
