Lev L. Dassin is the Deputy United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

From September 2005 to January 2008, Mr. Dassin served as the Chief of the Criminal Division. Before returning to the U.S. Attorney's Office in September 2005, Mr. Dassin was in private practice, most recently as a partner at Kaye Scholer LLP, where he focused on complex commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense.

From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Dassin served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted a wide range of cases involving terrorist acts, racketeering violations, narcotics trafficking, money laundering and white collar crimes.

In 1998, Mr. Dassin received the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service for his role in the investigation and prosecution of Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the 1993 terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center.

In 1994, Mr. Dassin received the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service for his role in the investigation and prosecution of four defendants for their roles in the 1993 terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center.

Mr. Dassin served as a law clerk to the Honorable David N. Edelstein, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, from 1990 to 1992.

Mr. Dassin is a 1987 graduate of Cornell University and 1990 graduate of New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in New York, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
