Kenneth Crews is the director of Columbia University's Copyright
Advisory Office (http://www.copyright.columbia.edu).  He came to
Columbia at the beginning of 2008 to launch the office in service to the
university and to continue involvement in research and national and
international policy developments.  He was previously at Indiana
University, where he held a named professorship at the School of
Law-Indianapolis.  Much of his work specializes in the analysis and
application of fair use and other copyright exceptions.  Crews is the
author of multiple books and journal articles on copyright law and
related issues.  He is currently preparing a study of copyright
exceptions for the World Intellectual Property Organization, and he
teaches each year in the LL.M. program at the Munich Intellectual
Property Law Center in Germany.  Dr. Crews studied at Northwestern and
Washington universities.  He earned a Ph.D. from UCLA.  For more
